How much is the price of curbstones of different types, their installation, features of calculating the total amount

Curbstones are an important consideration when designing a new driveway, garden path, or street edge. These components give your outdoor spaces a stylish and functional touch while also aiding in space definition. However, it’s imperative that you comprehend the associated costs before starting your project. Curbstone costs can differ significantly based on the kind, composition, and method of installation.

There are various varieties of curbstones, each with unique features and price ranges. For example, natural stone curbstones are typically more costly, but they also have a timeless appearance and are long-lasting. Concrete curbstones are a popular option for many homeowners because they are typically more cost-effective and adaptable. You can select the option that best suits your project and budget by being aware of these options.

In addition to the curbstones’ purchase price, you’ll also need to account for installation costs. Although hiring a professional installer will increase your overall costs significantly, it guarantees that the curbstones are installed correctly and will last longer. To save money, you might think about doing the installation yourself if you’re handy, but be ready for the labor-intensive nature of it.

You must determine the total quantity of curbstones needed based on the dimensions of your project in order to obtain an accurate estimate. You can get a better idea of the costs by measuring the length of the area where the curbstones will go and accounting for any extra materials or preparation required. You can more wisely plan your budget and make decisions regarding your curbstone project if you are aware of these factors.

Curbstone Type Price per Unit Installation Cost Features
Standard Concrete $10 $5 Basic durability, easy to install
Decorative Concrete $20 $8 Enhanced appearance, higher maintenance
Pre-cast Concrete $15 $6 Uniform shape, quick installation
Stamped Concrete $25 $10 Custom patterns, long-lasting

The type of curbstone you select, the installation procedure, and the method for calculating the overall cost should all be taken into account when estimating the cost of curbstones. The cost of installation adds another layer to the overall budget, and prices vary depending on the material and style. You can estimate the overall cost more accurately and choose a curbstone that meets your needs and budget by being aware of the various types that are available as well as the installation requirements.

What is the cost?

Curb stone prices are determined by both objective and subjective factors. The latter show the company’s style and technological advancements, while the former are nearly the same for all manufacturers. This includes the product’s color, shape, bending radii, and joint type—complex or simple, straight or curved.

The primary objective factors influencing curbstone manufacturing costs are:

  1. Curbstone material: artificial – concrete and reinforced concrete or natural – granite.
  2. Ingredients of the working mixture for artificial stones, which are used to produce curbs and technological compositions that determine the proportionality of the components: crushed stone, sand, fillers, plasticizers and cement.
  3. Size of stones. This dependence is directly proportional, the larger the size and weight of the products, the greater the consumption of materials and the higher the labor costs for their manufacture, the higher the cost price per unit of product, respectively.
  4. Brands and classes of concrete are in the range from B22 to B35, the first garden with the lowest price, the second main high-strength and high price, between them are road classes of curb stones with a strength of B30.
  5. The production method can be manual with the most expensive cost and cheaper products obtained using high-tech equipment for vibration casting. As a result of which they are not only cheaper, but also have high technical and external characteristics. The most expensive production is the manufacture of granite curbstones, it is several times higher than the cost of products obtained by vibration casting and vibration pressing.
  6. Various colors for concrete and reinforced concrete stones are obtained by adding pigments to the working solution, due to which the cost of such products is higher. Various colors of granite curbs are obtained as a result of mining the original stone from different quarries, those types are more expensive, the cost of extraction of which is initially higher. Gray curbs for all types of source material are cheaper.
  7. Additional processing for natural stone significantly increases its price.
  8. Reinforcement is carried out for some modifications of road curbs with a length of over 3 m and for all types of main stones, due to the special load on their surface. Such curbs have a cost 20-30% higher than unreinforced products.
  9. Country of origin, domestic curb products are 25-40% lower than the cost of Western analogues, while often have higher quality characteristics. High prices for Western-made curbs are caused by higher production, raw material and transportation costs.

Pricing of curbstone installation

The features of the construction site and the technology selected for curbstone installation determine the cost of installation. The construction site has the following features:

  1. location and distance from the traffic interchange;
  2. geology of the area and the complexity of preparing the work site for laying;
  3. the presence of slopes and curvature;
  4. high groundwater level and the need to install storm drains.

The degree of base preparation required before installing curbs, planting curbs in accordance with the landscape, the site’s curvature, joint sealing technology, the weight and size of stones, and the requirement for lifting equipment are some examples of technological challenges.

The installation of granite and curbstone modifications on highways and roads made of reinforced concrete are the most costly.

Gutter installation costs on average per linear meter:

  • 25 cm — 100 rub./p.m.;
  • 50 cm — 150 rubles./p.m.
  • deep drain over 50 cm -350 rubles./p.m.

How to calculate quantity?

When laying a lot of curbs, especially ones paid for with budgetary funds, a road surface project is created in which the kind, price, and quantity of curbs are chosen.

If a private plot owner wishes to put in a curb on a garden path themselves, the executive scheme will calculate how much curb needs to be installed. It is initially drawn to scale following the future sidewalk’s contour; to do this, you will need to know how long it will be (D t).

It is established by the construction contour, which accounts for the shape’s curvilinearity and leaves 10–15% in reserve for seams and curvature. Next, you must choose the curbstone brand based on the future structure’s design and strength requirements. This will determine the specifications for the curb trench’s height (H), width (W), and needed number of curbstones (Rb).

Calculation example

The site’s initial data:

  1. The inter-quarter road has a curved contour with sections: 2;1.5;2.1;1.7;3.
  2. Acceptable strength class is not lower than B35.
  3. Frost resistance F above 200.

There are two types of curbstone that can be used for this load: granite curbstone (BR 100.40.18, safety factor -1.15) and reinforced concrete curbstone (BR 100.45.15, safety factor 1.1).

The process of calculating curbstone quantity:

  • Length of the section: 2+1.5+2.1+1.7+3=10.3 m.
  • Quantity of Rb RC curb BR 100.45.15: 10.3/1 m X2x1.1 = 24 units rounded to an even number.
  • Quantity of Rb granite curb BR 100.45.18: 10.3/1 m X2x1.15= 24 units rounded to an even number.
  • Quantity of Rb non-standard clinker curb ZG-Clinker 305x37x130:10.3/0.305 m X2x1.15= 78 units rounded to an even number.

Rules for the estimate calculation of laying

Rates for the estimate calculation for laying curbstones in most cases is included in the work on the construction of road surfaces from a wide variety of building materials. This list may also include work on dismantling curbs.

These estimates are compiled using a variety of normative and estimate bases. The FER 27 collection is mostly used for large objects when building highways out of various materials.

The image displays a passage from FER 27: Based on FER 27 per 100 m.p., we create an estimate for the installation and removal of curbs using the basic prices:

  • 27-02.010 — laying curbs from various building materials: 27-02-010.01 for cement concrete products, and 27-02.010.02/03/04 from other materials, including natural stones.
  • 27-02.010 pointing and filling seams, post-installation cleaning of stones.
  • 27-02.011 laying granite PUG stones.
  • 27-02.011.01 loading and transportation of building materials within a 150 m interval, laying out elements along the laying line, manual device of the base from concrete.
  • 27-02.011.01 manual curb edging with concrete mortar tamping and compaction.
  • 27-02.015 laying monolithic products with a concrete paver.
  • 27-02.015.02/03 laying elements in combined sections – straight and radial with a wide range of types of technological operations.

The costs for operations to control operations and seam adjustment with mastic processing of the finished design are included in the collections of FER 27 for border stone installation.

The costs for dismantling work and previously installed borders for estimating purposes are taken from the same FER 27 collection as the road’s construction and are found in two tables, 27-03-010, which call for dismantling at a ratio of 10 m.P. on a concrete or crushed stone base.

When building materials are manually disassembled and stacked, Table 27-03-010 is utilized for storage purposes.

How to calculate the costs of blocks and payment of work of masters?

To determine the total cost of border installation, include the cost of materials for CO foundations, the cost of Central Bank borders, the cost of installing cm, and the cost of removing diabetes.

The formula for calculating the total cost of installing border stones:

The cost of installation includes the labor required to install the foundation, which is contingent upon the base material and backfill layer thickness (under heavy loads, it should be as thick as 0.3 m, laid in multiple layers using a vibrating plate).

Example calculation for a vibrocompressed standard BR 100.30.15 road curbstone on a 10.3 m road:

  • Cb = 10.3×2/1000×1.1×300 = 24×300 = 7200 rubles.
  • Cm = 24 units * 350 = 8400 rubles.
  • Sd = 10.3x2x200 rubles.= 4120 rubles.
  • Su = 7200 + 8400 + 4120 = 19720 rubles.

The table provides an overview of data regarding other kinds of curbs.

Curbstone prices vary according to a number of factors, such as the material type, design, and difficulty of installation. Generally speaking, basic concrete curbstones are less expensive than granite or specially-designed alternatives. For those on a tight budget, standard concrete curbstones are an excellent alternative. However, spending more money on premium materials might be worthwhile if you’re looking for something more aesthetically pleasing and long-lasting.

The total cost is significantly influenced by installation charges as well. Curbstones installed professionally will last longer and be installed correctly, but the cost will go up overall. These expenses must be taken into account when creating your budget. To get the best bargain, be sure to compare the services offered by various contractors and obtain quotes from them.

Measure the area where the curbstones will be installed in order to get an accurate estimate of the project’s total cost. Next, take into account the installation and curbstone material costs per unit. It’s wise to always budget a little extra for unforeseen costs or changes. You can achieve a great look for your project without going over budget if you plan and budget carefully.
