  1. The stone is made of fine-grained heavy concrete of dense texture.
  2. Designed to separate the roadway from sidewalks, lawns, public transport stops.
  3. Curb stones can be straight, entry or curved. Each type of product has its own marking.
  4. Can be made of concrete with a compressive strength of B22.5, B30.
  5. The upper and lower edges of the stones must be perpendicular to each other.
  6. Stones up to 1 meter long are made of fine-grained concrete by vibration pressing. Products 3-6 meters long are made of heavy concrete, the structure must be reinforced.
  7. The marking of the curbstone consists of several letter values: the first group is the type, length, height and width, radius of curvature. The second group is the class of prestressed reinforcement. For example, BK100.30.18.8, which means a curbstone 1000 mm long, 300 mm high and 180 mm wide with a radius of curvature of 8 meters.
  8. Stones must be strong and resistant to cracks.

The maximum percentage of water that products absorb by weight should be 6% for fine-grained concrete and 5% for heavy concrete. There should be no more than 0.40 water to cement ratio. For the production of such stone, concrete mixtures must adhere to GOST 7473.

Technical characteristics of stones

Moisture resistance

  • For the strength grade M300, this will be the indicator W5–W6. This means that the stone will not let water through at a pressure of 0.5–0.6 MPa or at 5–6 atmospheres of pressure.
  • The strength grade of the stone M400 has a moisture permeability class of W6–W12. This indicator is more serious, since heavy concrete is already used for production.

The age of the concrete used to make the curbstone, the environmental operating conditions, and the additives used in the stone’s manufacturing all have an impact on the moisture resistance indicator.

Concrete class

The curbs’ class will be B30 if their strength grade is M400. This indicates that heavy concrete is produced, which is appropriate for monolithic structures subjected to extremes in temperature and weight.

Additionally, reinforced concrete curbs are poured using this type of concrete. The density parameters of the material have increased to 2310 kg/m^3.

Concrete curbstone with a strength grade of M300 belongs to class B22.5. This concrete is both lightweight and heavy; it’s frequently referred to as universal.   • main – 120-190 kg;
  • road – about 90 kg;
  • garden – 18-36 kg.

Moreover, the following dimensions (values in millimeters) should be highlighted:

  • 500x200x80;
  • 800x200x80;
  • 800x300x150;
  • 1000x600x180;
  • 1500x300x150;
  • 3000x300x150.

Service life

Strength

  1. class of concrete;
  2. grade of strength;
  3. density.

For instance, the strength of concrete M300, which is used to create garden stones for curbs, is 295 kgf / cm 2 or 28.9 MPa. Concurrently, this indicator will equal 393 kg/cm 2 or 38.35 MPa for concrete class B30.
